Shiseido has developed new patent-pending technology that creates a clear visualization of the state of permeation of cosmetic ingredients through the skin, after applying a cosmetic product.

The technology measures the depth of permeation — and creates a visualization that shows that ingredients in a skincare formulation may be reaching deep enough into the skin’s inner layers to be beneficial. Perhaps now it will be possible for a brand to display this information on packaging in an effort to increase sales of skincare products — by providing the “proof” to consumers that a product will work.
